The Swan Inn

Nestled in the heart of stunning Dorset countryside, the town was once home to Thomas Hardy who described the Blackmore Vale as “The Vale of Little Dairies”. The Swan Inn, located in the old market place, dates back to medieval times and has been at the centre of community life for centuries.

Bar Opening Times:
Monday – Sunday from 10am

Food served:
Monday – Sunday  11.30am – 2.30pm 6pm -9pm

The Inn boasts 5 well-appointed rooms all with en-suite shower & wc facilities. A freshly cooked Full English can be enjoyed in the Breakfast room or secluded garden and speciality coffees are served from late morning. Sample our selection of locally brewed Real Ales or enjoy a glass of Pimms in the garden.

Our seasonally changing menu ranges from light bites to wholesome freshly cooked dishes using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.

The Inn is often a vibrant spot at the weekends with live music and the surrounding views and stunning sunsets can be enjoyed from the famous Dorset Trailway just around the corner.

Thank you so much for our fabulous lunch last Thursday. Needing somewhere close to our holiday cottage at Kings Stag, we happened to pick you – and how pleased we were that we did. A fantastic choice of delicious food, sensibly-priced, and the staff were superbly welcoming and helpful. Best choice we could have made. Thank you!

Thank you for a very nice stay. We were impressed by the room and the excellent service – nothing seemed too much trouble. If we come your way again, we shall certainly stay with you. We will recommend the Swan to our friends and family.
